Curfew

Do you know where your teenagers are and what they are doing in the late evening and early morning hours? You should! Police strictly enforce the Curfew Ordinance for minors under the age of 17.

Children and teens under 17 years old are not allowed to be present in any public building or place, or on any public street or highway during restricted hours unless they are accompanied and supervised by a parent, guardian or other responsible supervisor who is at least 18 years old and approved by the minor’s parent or guardian.

The restricted hours are:

Between 12:01 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Saturday

Between 12:01 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Sunday

Between 11:00 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.

It is unlawful for a parent, legal guardian, or other person to knowingly permit a person in his or her custody or control to violate the above mention paragraph.

The companion age may very in cities that have local laws regarding curfew.

A person convicted of a violation of any provision of this section shall be guilty of a petty offense and shall be fined not less than $10.00 and no more than $500.00.

NOTICE!

Parents and teens should also know that a minor’s driver’s license is invalid if they are in violation of the Curfew Ordinance. If a minor is driving between the restricted hours, without approved supervision, they can be arrested for ‘Driving Without a License'.
